The first session of the seminar “Gender Violence, Media, and Feminisms,” which marked the beginning of the Media and Sexual Violence School, featured Karen Boyle, a consultant for the UnCoveR project. In a keynote titled “Media, Gender, and Violence,” the speaker framed #MeToo as “a long moment,” critically addressed the “monsterization” of perpetrators in the media, and discussed various forms of backlash against #MeToo.
